This week Pantone unveiled their colour of 2020 – Classic Blue. Funnily enough, as if to celebrate - the view outside my window cracked open to reveal the most intense shade of sky in this colour.
Luckily this shade hasn’t gathered much hate on social media. A small minority thinks that it’s mundane, but personally, I think this beautiful hue will lend itself well to home textiles.
I would like to call it a classic - a colour in home-decor that holds the potential to inject timeless confidence into interiors and is easily adaptable by different finished and materials.
I am just imagining a bold painting / a hand woven carpet / a textured felt cushion and even an upholstered winged back chair. This hue would lend itself well across the board.
“As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions, designers and brands should feel inspired to use color to engage and connect," The Pantone Institute's VP, Laurie Pressman, stated.
What’s your take? Love it? Hate it? Or simply find it too boring? Would love to know.
