Intermittent Fasting - My journey so far

I have been doing intermittent fasting since 4 months and since I promised you all an update here goes -

Along with weight loss I think the biggest change it has brought about is keeping my craving at bay. When I talk about cravings I am mainly referring to sugar. That small chocolate after my meal, or the need to snack on something unhealthy in between meals is completely gone. In fact my body doesn’t really crave food in between meals.

I eat my breakfast around 10-11am

Lunch at 1-1:30pm

Dinner at 7-7:30pm

This gives me about a 15-16 hour gap between my first and last meal. I feel this works for my lifestyle but I know people who eat a late dinner and skip to lunch.

I would also recommend starting with 9 hours and working up to 16 hours gradually. No tea or coffee or anything to raise your blood sugar during fasting hours (only water).

It's amazing that have more energy, you would think that with less frequent meals this wouldn’t be the case but it is! The key is to keep your calorie intake the same even though you may be eating fewer meals.

Intermittent fasting also makes your body stop craving sugar and starchy carbs, so even when you’re hungry you naturally feel like eating better quality food. You tend to recognise real hunger vs eating when you’re just bored or thirsty.

Less sugar also means better sleep, it allows my body to digest the food from 7pm to when I sleep around 11pm

I also spend less time thinking about food. Sounds odd but it’s actually kind of great because you have more time to focus on other stuff.

This is my update so far. I’ve lost 10 kilos in 8 months after my second pregnancy. I’m also doing a low GI diet to compliment this, and I exercise 3-4 times a week for half an hour.

Any questions I’m always happy to answer them :-)

Update as of 1st Sept 2019
I've worked up to 17-18 hour fasting

I now completely skip breakfast

Lunch at 1pm

Dinner at 7-7:30pm
